£14.95Hooray For Our Side (Concert Band - Score Only) - Langford, Gordon
Music to wave flags by is the clue to the spirit of Hooray for our Side. In essence, it is a march. The composer had in mind, however, spectators at some competitive sport, encouraging and cheering on their particular team - hence the half-time and full-time whistles. This is all strictly for fun - the competitive spirit - and comradeship.

£137.99Mountain Majesty (Concert Band - Score and Parts)
For someone like Franco Cesarini, who was born and raised in a land where every horizon is dominated by the majestic Alps, mountains are in one's heart and soul every moment of life. The true spirit of mountains is described in the words of Alan Hovhaness: "Mountains are symbolic meeting places between the material and the spiritual world." It is a sentiment with which the composer fully agrees, which also helps explain the titles of succeeding episodes of the composition. These episodes alternate moments of reality, of matter, and with those of the ethereal, the spirit. Mountain Majestic is the fascinating final movement from the epic work Poema Alpestre, published separately in this edition for concert band. Breath a breath of fresh mountain air into your concert with this emotive work. 06:00

£64.35Ode and Jubilation
As the title implies, there is a dichotomy of spirit within the contrasting sections. But, there is also a mutual thematic development which makes this composition unique. After beginning with a lyrical introduction in which the trumpet invokes an expressive solo passage, the work then progresses with an energetic rhythmic pattern which offers and leads to a joyful spirit of celebration. A recapitulation of the original theme forms a variation to the end. This distinctive composition was selected by the Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation to receive the NJSCA Fellowship award. Very nice!

£81.95Scherzo: Cat and Mouse (Concert Band ?" Score and Parts) - Spittal, Robert
The "cat and mouse chase" has been a part of folklore and popular culture since the time of pharaohs in ancient Egypt. Over the ages, the chase has served as a metaphor for the suspenseful and sometimes alternating relation between hunter and hunted. In the modern age, the story has been played out hundreds of times in popular animated cartoons, often accompanied by a musical score representing the energetic spirit of the chase with lively twists and turns, sudden surprises and tongue-in-cheek music. In this spirit of playfulness and suspense, Robert Spittal has created a marvelous work that is both entertaining and exhilarating. Dur: 6:30 (Grade 4)?

£106.99The River Knows Your Name (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - De Haan, Jacob
This work describes the way the German river Saar holds the names of all the people who once lived in the area and of those who live there now. The introduction depicts the river flowing toward its confluence with the Mosel. The first names revealed by the river, in a dance, are those of the Romans, who established their first settlement here. Then the beautiful Saar Cathedral is portrayed, where believers give voice to the names of the people they know. Next, a powerful passage resounds: a reflection of the entrepreneurial spirit in Dillingen that has taken shape through the famous metal industry. Via a short clarinet solo, the work flows toward its conclusion in an emotional, stirring fashion, from nostalgic strains to full-blown euphoria.Duration: 9.00

£39.95Of Shepherds and Kings (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Wiffin, Rob
This salsa is a not-too-serious look at the shepherds and kings at the Christmas nativity scene. The shepherds are represented by the carol While Shepherds watched their flocks by night, appearing here in a minor key. They are a rather earthy crew as opposed to the more refined kings with their carol We Three Kings of Orient. At one point the shepherds try to show that they should not be underestimated with their allusion to Henry Purcell's song Nymphs and Shepherds but the arguments between the two groups continue to the very end.Technically the piece is not that difficult but it needs the appropriate rhythmic feel. There are several add-on latin percussion parts which are not essential but will add to the spirit of the music if you have the players available.Duration: 3.30

£36.95Summer Song (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Wiffin, Rob
A gentle song in ABA form catching the spirit of a relaxed summer's day. Early in July 2024 the composer was asked to write a flashy trombone duet of 4 minutes' duration for a summer school. The duet starts with a slower section before moving on to the fireworks. This emerged into the band version of Summer Song - gentle, warm, lyrical and technically undemanding.Duration: 3.30
