    Famous German Christmas Songs

Most of the German carols that are still popular today date from the period between the 17th and the early 19th centuries. Thus, only very few modern musical approaches to these songs can be found. Stefan Schwalgin has taken the opportunity to give five well-known German Christmas melodies a new sound in this colourful modern arrangement. Contains: Silent Night, Ihr Kinderlein kommet, Zu Bethlehem geboren, Alle Jahre wieder and O du frhliche. At a little bit of German Christmas spirit with this beautiful medley.

    Little Concerto - André Waignein

Little Concerto is a most useful solo item due to the fact that thekey and the range of the solo part mean it can be performed byseveral different instruments, from flute to baritone. Little Concertoconsists of three movements: an Allegro written in classicalstyle, which alternates between tutti and soli passages; a secondmovement, sweet and calm, to fully display the richness of the soloinstrument's sound colours and finally an Allegro giocoso. It is afairly simple piece and is therefore particularly suitable for youngor inexperienced soloists who want to display their artistic skills.

Canzone di Francesco - Thomas Doss

This beautiful and intense slow composition including lots of melodic and musical sequences is dedicated to Saint Francis-a figure whose life story has always impressed the composer. He had previously honoured Francis of Assisi in several works including a composition for strings, an oratorio, a mass and a Laudate for choir and concert band. Canzone di Francesco will create a moment of meditation and reflection during your concert, but is also very suitable as a warm up piece offering various possibilities to work on intonation, phrasing and sound building.

Ten Chorale Preludes - Max Reger

During his short lifetime Max Reger (1873-1916) was a prolific composer with many of his best known works being composed for organ. The ten chorale preludes in this selection are from his set of Thirty Short Chorale Preludes Op.135a composed as short voluntaries for liturgical use rather than for recitals in these arrangements Philip Sparke has kept this in mind and each prelude can be performed with minimal instrumentation for those occasions where a small band is needed. They also make great pieces for band warm-ups or studies in intonation, sound and balance.

    Motown Story

Motown is much more than a record company. From its humble beginnings in 1959, it has become a sound, a style, a whole movement. Founder Berry Gordy, Jr. had no idea what lay ahead over the following decades as he began producing records with the likes of The Jackson 5, Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder, Lionel Richie, and many others. Motown Story is a tribute to the unique Motown-sound and contains optional parts for piano/keyboard and the electric or bass guitar. This medley features: ABC (The Jackson 5), Stop in the Name of Love (The Supremes), I Heard It through the Grapevine (Marvin Gaye) and Dancing in the Street (Martha Reeves & The Vandellas).

MONDO GLISSANDO can even be used as a trombone SOLO piece, by having the non-solo trombones play from thetechnically simpler euphonium part.Either way, section or solo, there's nothing like an exposed part on an upcoming performance to reinvigorate a musician's interest and encourage that all-important PRACTICE!
