Serengeti Sunrise - Wasson
"Serengeti Sunrise" was conceived as a musical portrait of an early morning safari across the Serengeti in Africa. Beginning with a bold fanfare, a low ominous ostinato pattern supports a graceful melody, signifying a traveling caravan. In the middle of the work a brief interlude appears which combines various percussion sounds with the woodwinds playing a musical effect of a flowing stream. A recap of the earlier section ends the work with a large ensemble sound.

Escape From Krypton - Robert W. Smith
Although a chemical element on the periodic table, Krypton is also a fictional planet in comic book lore that explodes just after the escape by our favorite super hero. Robert W. Smith's "Escape From Krypton" captures the energy and suspense of the dramatic event. Biting dissonance, driving percussion and a soaring flight theme combine to create a musical experience your beginning band students will love to rehearse and perform. Composed using the 8-note range of the Bb concert scale, this exciting piece can be performed in the second semester of study in most band methods. Exciting and educationally sound!

Percussionists will enjoy playing a variety of auxiliary instruments, and the woodwinds and brass get to join the fun by creating "beachy" sound effects on their instruments. Great holiday fun!

Utilizing traditional and non-traditional percussion instruments this entertaining novelty piece will spotlight your full percussion section. Shredder - Sciaino
Once a reliable and trustworthy office machine, Shredder has fallen from grace to seek revenge on its sworn enemies and arch-nemeses... the teachers. After a long relationship of perceived disrespect, this dark lord of xerox, will stop at nothing as it crunches and crinkles its way towards revenge. Ultimately, the gut wrenching tones of the paper jam prevail but not before everyone has a blast bringing the story to life! Hilarious sound files are provided to help the narrative or, alternatively, a guest narrator (perhaps a school administrator) can add a really fun element to any concert!

New Frontiers - Aaron Blakely
This new concert overture by young composer Aaron Blakely is reminiscent of the great Western movie score genre. It has the bold open intervals of the American sound made famous by Aaron Copland along with a very memorable melody and driving rhythms. The main theme of the piece is contrasted by a lush and lyrical middle section that builds to a wonderful climax before the return of the driving main theme. New Frontiers is a perfect showcase piece for your band to play at contest or festival.

King Cotton (March) - John Philip Sousa
First introduced by Sousa in 1895, this march has become one of his most popular. Andrew Balent has worked his magic to tame the difficulties down for the abilities of the advancing band. Best of all, the result does not sound diluted in the least. This is what Balent does best!
