    Hungarian Rondo - Árpád Balázs

The Hungarian Rondo by rpd Balzs is cheerful, good-humoured music, a finely formed work crafted withgreat professional skill. Its structure is clear: the double recurrence of the rondo theme results in a five-part form. The two episodes differ in character. The first consists of increasingly densely woven imitations that chase eachother playfully, the second evokes the mood of bagpipe tunes. In the latter, above the melody moving evenly in crotchets in the middle parts a pastel-tinted cloud of woodwind notes floats upwards, while the sound is extended downwards by the deep-toned brass stepping lower by semitones. A brilliant device by the composer! In thecourse of its repeats the rondo theme appears more and more richly garbed, particularly the sparkling semiquavers of the woodwind make it ever more decorative. The Hungarian Rondo is the kind of music that drives your cares away.

    Buckeye Rondo - Larry Clark

Buckeye Rondo was commissioned by the Ohio State University for their annual middle school honor band festival. Composer Larry Clark used this opportunity to write a piece in a rondo form, but with some modern twists. The main theme is very catchy, and is used in various harmonic treatments and style. The episodes of the rondo as is common, increase in length and diversity as the piece develops. What a great way to introduce this form to young bands, and on top of that, the piece is infectious and expertly scored to make your band sound their best.

Andante & Rondo - Antonio Capuzzi

Antonio Capuzzi (August 1, 1755 - March 28, 1818) was an Italian violinist and composer who studied violin with Nazari and composition with Bertoni. In 1805 he moved to Bergamo, where he was professor of violin at the Instituto Musicale and leader of the orchestra at Teatro Riccardi. He was highly regarded there both as a teacher and a performer. Although popular in his day, most of his music is now forgotten; his most commonly performed piece today is the Concerto for Double Bass. All of Capuzzi's known compositions were written during his Venetian years. It was in Venice that Capuzzi became close friends with Domenico Dragonetti, Beethoven's virtuoso bassist. It isspeculated that Capuzzi wrote his Concerto for Double Bass for Dragonetti. Gerald Oswald has made a fine arrangement of the second (Andante) and third (Rondo) movements of the concerto to feature either euphonium or tuba with concert band. The solo part is also available in an edition with piano accompaniment.

Rondo Barocco - Otto M. Schwarz

The Baroque is a period of frills and ornaments, wether in architecture, painting or music. An easy melody passes through a variety of arrangements. From brass quintet and different tutti parts, all the sections are in action. Fortified by a drum set and an (optional) electric bass, the piece is given a modern touch and becomes more acceptable to the audience. A follow-up to "Rondo Romantica", this piece was composed in December 1997.

Rondo in E flat (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Bull, John - Noble, Paul

This arrangement for Concert Band is based on the organ adaptation (Rondo in D) of the string orchestration (Rondo in G). Regardless of the key, it is a delightful piece representing music of the late Renaissance that recalls the English folk dances of an earlier century. An excellent teaching piece for 6/8 meter and rondo form, this presentation in E-flat falls comfortably under the fingers of band instrumentalists. The music is attributed to John Bull, but may have been written much later by noted organist, Richard Ellsasser.
