La Cambiale Di Matremonio - Gioachino Rossini

Gioacchino Rossini is famous as composer of a fabulous series op splendid operas of which the overtures are often most popular and appreciated. The opera 'La Cambiale di Matrimonio' (the change of the wedding) was the first professional opera composed by young Rossini. He completed it in 1820 in only a few days and was only aged eighteen. As it did not cope with the level of his later operas, the work fell somewhat in oblivion, though the overture remains a favourite of the orchestral repertoire and is still often performed.
