£183.20Finale from The New World Symphony - Antonin Dvorak
This arrangement was written for Norwegian School Band Madlamark Skolekorps to their participation at the Norwegian Championships 2023.The arrangement will work excellent also for a wind ensemble (one player to each part), but the clarinet parts should always be doubled.Euphonium II is optional, but it's recommended to use also this when there are two players or more on this instrument. Concerning percussion, timpani is the most important part, but it's recommended to also cover cymbals and mallet percussion.The articulation and dynamics are kept as close as possible to the original version by Dvorak. However, some changes has been made to make it more suitable for a wind instrumentation. The timpani part is identical to the original version except for some places when the trumpet signals are doubled in the timpani part.Staccato notation should not be played short here, but rather separated. At faster passages, the music should be played endurant or legato if possible.This arrangement is a good opportunity to perform music of highest quality where musicality, phrasing, balance and intonation are very important, and, where each musician and part are deeply involved in the music making.

Seid (pronounced sayed was a divination ceremony practised by the Vikings which could be used to reveal knowledge of the future. During the ceremony, woman sang incantations and the Seeress (Vlva) passed into a kind of trance. In other arctic cultures similar ceremonies took place during which the Medicine man (Sage), or Shaman, would beat a drum covered with magic runes, and he too would pass into a trance, reaching the deepest part of his own sub-consciousness - a journey beyond time and space... "Seid" was commissioned by The Norwegian Band Federation and European Brass Band Assosiation for the European Brass Band Championship in 1996. The version for Concert Bandwas commissioned by Frode Amundsen and Borge Musikkorps in 2018. Supported by NOPA (Norwegian Society of Composers and Lyricists)

The composer and musician Trygve Hoff was born and raised at Rognan in Nordland and gained a lot of inspiration for his texts from the North Norwegian culture. He is a composer and copywriter of many of our most popular songs. "Ei hand holde i" and "Har en drm" with music by Svein Gundersen and especially his own "North Norwegian Christmas Psalm" are famous songs in Norway. "Lullaby in advent" may not be among his most famous songs, but it's a beautiful and thoughtful melody that will fit well with any Christmas concert. Hoff himself varied with musical styles on this song. This arrangement is written as a jazz-version with swing feel.

This song is taken from the 6th album by Norwegian band Kaizers Orchestra. Together with "Opma till You Die", this one is the bands biggest hit. It was released as single record in 2010. After that, several other Norwegian artists have made their own versions both on stage and record. This arrangement in 12/8 time signature tries to capture the sound and rhythmic drive of the original song. Watch the dynamics and balance between the different elements. The guitar and bass parts are optional.

This melody is the Norwegian version of "Make You Feel My Love" composed by Bob Dylan. The lyrics is translated by Bjarne Hjelmeland and the song performed by, among others, Norwegian singer Ingebjrg Bratland. The English version is also widely covered, notably by Adele. The lyrics is a tribute to love, and the song is a popular song for weddings. Watch balance all times, both regarding foreground/background and within instrument groups. The piece is in soft and middle soft dynamics. Make sure that it is not too loud, while maintaining marked dynamic variations.

£392.50Prillar&Halling - for Solo Clarinet and Wind Band - Stig Nordhagen
Prillar has it's origin from Norwegian folklorist music. It's a way of calling and singing the cattle home from the fields. Halling is a wellknown folk dance from the valleys in the eastern part of Norway. In this work, the clarinet use the prillar to get the other musicians to join in. The melodic material in Prillar and Halling hasn't got all the sound of Norwegian folklore exclusively. You can also hear folkloric music from other nations. The idea is to show the similarities between these and also the small differences there are between folkloristic elements from a large area. The piece also contains the folk tune "Adam in paradise", from south of Norway. At the end, thetunes are stacked on top of each other, and the similarities of origin turns out. - Stig Nordhagen -

£183.20Fest - Polonaise - Johan Svendsen
Johan Svendsen (1840 - 1911) was the first great Norwegian symphonic composer, as well as one of the leading conductors of his time. Next to Edv. Grieg, he was the most prominent figure in Norwegian music life at the end of the 1800's. Although he came from humble beginnings in Chistiania (now Oslo), he was to become a cosmopolitan who felt at home all over Europa. Svendsen spent most of his adult life abroad, living in Copenhagen for 25 years as maestro for the Royal Theatre Orchestra. Nonetheless he retained contact with Norway troughout these years and was a frequent and popular guest in his native country. He wrote his Festival Polonaise for a ball in 1873. The most beautiful thing is one of Jahn Teigens most popular pop ballads. It was written in 1988 together with Rolf Lvland and Ove Borchstein and went straight to the top of the Norwegian hitlists. Even 20 years after its release, in 2008, it reached the hitlists after Teigen performed it during the Eurovision Song Contest. The song is often played on Norwegian radio and was the 70th most played in the period 1993-2013 on the radio channel P4. Now it's finally arranged for band in the popular Young Band series with adaptation of key that fit young musicians. It will definitely be a popular number in your next concert.

£174.10Graceful Ghost - William Bolcom
I came to know of this piece when hearing famous Norwegian ragtime pianist Morten Gunnar Larsen playing it at a concert with the Norwegian Navy Band Bergen.I was struck by its melancholic beauty and wanted to arrange it for band. Ragtimes are rarely in a minor key (which this one is) and when you first hear it, you might think it was written around the time when Scott Joplin was the main ragtime composer. But, if you listen more carefully, you notice that some of the harmoniesare more advanced than one might expect in traditional ragtime, giving the piece a slightly more contemporary feel. The composer William Bolcom wrote Graceful Ghost in 1970 to honour the memoryof his father and it is one of his mostpopular pieces.
