£191.00Kerberos - Kjetil Djønne
"Kerberos" was written to Norwegian band Eidanger Pike- og guttekorps, Sigurd Skramsett conductor. When Sigurd Skramsett got in touch and wanted to commision a piece for their anniversary concert in November, I immediately thought of composing a piece about his role in the local bands. He has conducted the band for 15 years and has been important to the whole banding community in Telemark, Norway. My meeting with Sigurd in the summer of 2019 was at Dirigentuka (Conductors week) in Stavanger. We conducted many different types of music, including a blues by Torstein Aagard-Nilsen. All of the music at the course has inspired me in this piece. The name Sigurd originates from Norse mythology and means 'victory' and 'guardian'. KERBEROS is the three-headed dog guarding the entrance to the underworld of Greek mythology. Three heads, representing the past, present and future, became three movements representing three styles, and moods, in this work.Kjetil Djnne

£154.60Sabor Caribeo - Sverre Indris Joner
"Sabor Caribeo" means "Taste of Caribbean". This original composition is written by Norwegian composer Sverre Indris Joner who has studied Caribbean music since mid-80s.The music presents traditional elements from Cuban and Puerto Rico. Polyrhytmics is an important part of the music which consist of up to four melody lines at the same time. It's recommended that both conductor and the percussionists study the rhythm patterns very closely. Especially congas and timbales which vary patters a lot. The role of the guiro must not be underrated. It is possible to simplify the percussion parts by choosing some patterns and play these for longer periods than written.

£149.40Tenn Lys - Eyvind Skeie
"Candles in Advent" is a beautiful melody with great lyrics. It was originally written for an Norwegian Advent TV-series in 1985.In this arrangement, the oboe has some solo passages (cue notes in flute). I Have tried to vary the instrumentation without going beyond the beautiful Christmas mood. The harmonization is simple and functional. Let the soloists "speak" with good phrasing and focus also on harmony in the unison melody lines. Good balance and intonation in the accompaniment can make the performance a little gem on the Christmas concert.- Reid Gilje -

However it will also work well also for concert band alone.

£121.00Little Masquerade Suite - Johan Halvorsen
In 1922 Halvorsen was commissioned to write incidental music for the bicentennial performance of a comedy written by Norwegian playwright Ludvig Holberg. Masquerade calls for a diverse pallet of music depicting ballet and dance scenes filled with silly play and gaiety. As a result, the music is graceful, as found in Cotillion, playful as in the Bacchanale, and burlesque for the Rooster and Grotesque dances. The original Masquerade Suite for orchestra consisted of eight dances; this arrangement for concert band comprises the first, third, fifth and sixth movements of Halvosens original suite. A delightful programing selection displaying humor, wit and elegance in the four brief movements.

£83.00Serenity - Ola Gjeilo
Norwegian composer Ola Gjeilo is an emerging star in the realm of choral works, and also with music for wind band. Similar to his earlier band works Meridian and The Spheres, Serenity is based on a successful choral work. Beautifully arranged by J. Eric Wilson along with the composer, this version for wind band maintains all the wonder and magic of the original work. The opening is ethereal and somber, with sustained chords in clarinets and bowed percussion supporting a delicate oboe solo. The middle section shifts the principal modality from minor to major, and the layering orchestration and rising tessitura creates a tremendous rush of energy that leads to a triumphant climax. The closing section returns to the timbre of the opening, but now painted with hopefulness and healing.
