Hidden Light (Loyalty Among Friends), was composed on the occasion of the 75 year membership of Mr Leo Knoben at the Royal Brass Band 'Eendracht Waubach'(NL). From pride and admiration for this exceptional jubilee , but also out of gratitude for his many years of commitment as musician and member of the board, the association chose to have a memorable work written. That assignment resulted in the wonderful choral Hidden Light, for which composer Kevin Houben based himself on the following emotions and oppositions: small vs majestic, submissive vs royal and simplicity vs glory. The work starts in a very modest, dark atmosphere, after which the composition develops into a grand and lofty sound with broad melodies, exploring the full richness and colors of the 'symphonic' wind band. The interesting variety in orchestration - the small, intimate setting at the beginning and the following broad, majestic tutti passages - makes the work very varied, grateful to perform and to listen to. With Hidden Light Kevin Houben has again created an expressive and powerful composition that is highly reflective in nature. This emotional work is a tribute to an exceptional man who has been there for 'his' orchestra all his life, with a warm heart for 'his' musicians. Each musician will recognise the connection and the passion for music in this piece. Duration: 5.30

Good King Wenceslas is a Christmas carol that tells a story of a Bohemian king going on a journey and braving harsh winter weather to give alms to a poor peasant on the Feast of Stephen (December 26, the Second Day of Christmas). During the journey, his page is about to give up the struggle against the cold weather, but is enabled to continue by following the king's footprints, step for step, through the deep snow. The legend is based on the life of the historical Saint Wenceslaus I, Duke of Bohemia or Svat Vclav in Czech (907-935). The name Wenceslas is a Latinised version of the old Czech language Venceslav. In 1853, English hymnwriter John Mason Neale wrote the Wenceslas lyrics, in collaboration with his music editor Thomas Helmore, and the carol first appeared in Carols for Christmas-Tide, 1853. Neale's lyrics were set to the melody of a 13th-century spring carol Tempus adest floridum (The time is near for flowering) first published in the 1582 Finnish song collection Piae Cantiones. This arrangement represents one in the Series of Band Arrangements compatible with David Willcocks' Carols for Choirs.

In 1941, Khatchaturian composed a ballet soon to be known throughout the world - Gayaneh. In this piece the composer describes the landscape of his native country Armenia, and the people who tried to build the country to create a happy life there. Evil powers, however, try to destroy the peaceful work. Gayaneh is a young ordinary woman who cares greatly for her village. In addition to the fight for the village she also fights for her own happiness. Khatchaturian was a master at using elements of folk music in his compositions and these can be clearly heard in this arrangement for concert band by Wil van der Beek.Duration: 8:30

A parade of colorful floats and park figures is passing by.Let the fun begin!Part 2: The Haunted House [with animation]The only ride in the park that is not related to fun, is the Haunted House. Here visitors will be challenged to visit a house full of ghosts, creepy figures and other ominous things. The clock strikes twelve, there is no turning back. Ghosts are whispering, yelling, screaming... Fortunately it is almost one oclock, so we can leave this creepy place quickly.Part 3: The Swinging Galleon [with illustrations]What a huge pirate ship! Each time you swing back and forth, you will feel that weird feeling in your stomach. When you are thrown completely into the top you will have a fantastic view over the park, but you can not enjoy it for long. Before you know the ship swings back the other way.Part 4: The Fairy Tale Ride [with illustrations]After all those exciting and spectacular rides and attractions, it is time for a peaceful tour in The Fairy Tale Ride. Surrounded by a fairytale setting, you will discover fable figures, talking animals and colorful designs. Such a beauty and tranquility. Having had this experience, we are ready again for the big rides in the park!Part 5: The Bumper Cars [with illustrations]Now its time to crawl behind the wheel of the Bumper Cars! Shall we all chase the conductor?! Before you know you are hit by another visitor or you will bump against someone else. In this tough ride you can prove yourself as a real driver, or perhaps as a really bad one.Part 6: The Roller Coaster [with illustrations]The largest, fastest and scariest ride in the park ... we should definitely do the Roller Coaster! All together in the train, the over-the-shoulder restraints are lowering... be ready to ride. The train leaves the station and is heading for the big lift hill. It will be very scary when the train reaches the top and the train will be plunged down the first drop! Loops, corkscrews and other spectacular coaster elements will follow... A Cry against FascismThe Painted Bird, the controversial novel by Jerzy Kosinski (1933-1991), tells the story of a Jewish boy during World War II. For his safety, the child was sent to the Polish countryside by his parents. The title refers to a barbaric tradition among Polish farmers. The wings of a captured bird were painted in bright colours, after which the animal was released. Almost immediately, the bird was attacked and pecked to death by its peers. The boy underwent the same fate. Wherever he wandered, the local rural people cruelly mistreated him because of his distinctly different appearance. However, he survives the horrors and is reunited with his parents after the war. To escape the yoke of the Soviet occupation in his country, the Polish-Jewish Kosinski emigrated with counterfeit papers to the United States in 1957, where he became an American citizen in 1965. His landmark novel The Painted Bird was translated into thirty languages and sold millions of copies. Plagued by illness and accusations of betraying his country and plagiarism the writer ended his life in 1991.Duration: 11.00

The figure Van Obentraut is closely connected to the town of Seelze, where he died a heroic death and where a monument was erected in his honour.
