In the nineties, the Cuban-American singer Gloria Estefan recorded a sparkling version of Vicki Sue Robinson's disco classic Turn the Beat Around. She gave the song a catchy Latin beat, and with this new impulse, it was a worldwide hit. With the sentence from the song text "Love to hear percussion" in mind, Peter Kleine Schaars incorporated a compelling percussion solo in his arrangement. The result is a dynamic piece of music full of pace and passion.

Cantica de Sancto Benedicto is a three-movement work for mixed choir, soprano solo, concert band and organ ad libitum - on Latin lyrics that relate to the life of Saint Benedict. It was commissioned by the city of Norcia in Italy, whereBenedict was born. The holy Benedict (480-547) is considered the founder of monastic life within the Roman Catholic Church. His enormous influence is especially owing to his monastic rule, the Regula Benedicti.Jacob de Haan has named the movements ofCantica de Sancto Benedicto after the Holy Trinity: the Father (Gloria Patri), the Son (Gloria Filio) and the Holy Spirit (Gloria Spiritui Sancto). The lyrics of thehymn Gemma Caelestis, (which, like the othertexts, were originally used in Gregorian chant) are voiced by the choir. To this purpose, Jacob de Haan composed new, choral-like, homophone music. The sequence Laeta Quies is rendered by the soprano; the verses (divided over the threemovements) are alternated with those of Gemma Caelestis. The work closes with an impressive grand finale, in which texts are used from the proprium of the mass in honor of the saint's day of the holy Benedict (11 July). Notes to the conductor:For this cantata, there are various possibilities for the performance. The first involves a performance in which the choir and soprano parts are only accompanied by organ. Such a performance has several advantages: since the band never soundstogether with the choir and the soprano, no balance problems occur, and even a performance with a large concert band and a small cantata choir is conceivable. A special layout is also possible - with which you can set up a three-dimensionalperformance in a church. For example, the choir can sing in the chancel, accompanied by the choir organ; the soprano can stand on the gallery, accompanied by the main organ; and the band can be seated in another part of the church. The choir couldalso sing from a gallery. With layouts like this, working with two conductors is advisable. Choral parts available separately.

Isaac Watts (1674-1748) wrote the lyrics of "There is a land of pure delight" and is known as the "Father of English Hymnody". Watts was for the English hymn as Ambrose was for the medieval Latin hymn and what Martin Luther was for the German chorale. He wrote about 750 songs, and some of them survide the ravahes of time. (Joy To The World, When I survey the wondrous cross, I sing the Mighty Power of God) "There is a Land of Pure Delight" is usually in English-speaking areas sung on Luther Orlando Emerson's melody ('Ascription'). Constructed between 1915 and 1928, the Tamiami Trail (U.S. Highway 41) provides over 260 miles of scenic Florida beauty between Tampa and Miami. On the Tamiami Trail reflects on this journey, and pays tribute to the Suncoast Concert Band of Sarasota (along the trail) and its director emeritus, Leo Laier. The opening fanfare sets the mood and leads to the energetic first theme. Hangin' Ten is one of two movements of a composition called "Barefeet." The works may be played separately or together in a concert. This movement opens with sounds that are a bit mystical, then moving to a Latin jazz/rock style. It is quite syncopated and a fun song for your audience. The ranges are mostly within a Grade 4, though the last note of the Trumpet is C. Rhythmically it is challenging and a bit reminiscent of "West Side Story."

Randy Crawford led R&B veterans the Crusaders on the transatlantic hit "Street Life" (1979). A specially re-recorded version was featured in the soundtrack for the films Sharky's Machine and Jackie Brown. The composer Joseph Leslie "Joe" Sample (February 1, 1939 September 12, 2014) was an American pianist, keyboard player, and composer. He was one of the founding members of the Crusaders. but he enjoyed also a successful solo career and guested on many recordings including Miles Davis, George Benson, Jimmy Witherspoon, B. B. King, Eric Clapton, Steely Dan, Joni Mitchell, and the Supremes. Sample incorporated jazz, gospel, blues, Latin, and classical forms into his music. This arrangement can be used with a singer, but then need some attention to balance and please take away most melody lines. Electric Bass, Piano and Guitar are optional. If you would like to add an improvisation, please repeat bar 54 -62 without melody as many times you want. (Look at the piano part for chords).

£135.80Ad Quartum - Luciano Feliciani
The city of Quart derives its name from the Latin "Ad quartum ab Augusta lapidem", or four Roman miles from Augusta Praetoria, present-day Aosta, along the ancient Roman consular road of the Gauls. The fortress of Quart, whose construction began in 1185, is the main source of inspiration for the composition. The work begins, in fact, as if wrapped in a mysterious, suspended atmosphere, when the fog that envelops the manor suddenly thins out and lets one see the majestic building in all its austerity. A rhythmically exciting episode follows this brief introduction, ideally describing the events that have marked the long history of these places. The music highlights the percussion instruments, which evoke ancient medieval atmospheres in a modern language. The second theme, derived from the previous one, describes instead emotions and feelings of grandeur, beauty, and peace associated with the splendid Valle d'Aosta mountains that surround Quart. A developed melodic idea, supported by wide-ranging harmonies, attempts to musically portray the extraordinary natural beauty of these places. The reprise of the first theme, varied and presented in a lively and energetic movement, guides the final part of the piece: a coda where all the melodic and rhythmic ideas previously exposed are condensed.
