The premiere took place on June 14, 2007 in Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka, Japan with Mr. Satoru Yoshihara conducting.The piece is comprised of two parts: a festive opening fanfare; and a scintillating melody that reflects the celebratory atmosphere. Its melodic character, uplifting mood and punchy wit make Fanfare and Jubilation equally suitable as an opening piece or a concert work.

Cantiphonia - Concerto For Euphonium - Bert Appermont
This spectacular three-part concerto (Contrasti, Romanza and Fugato) for euphonium and grand brass-band orchestra by Bert Appermont was composed upon request by the Swiss euphonium virtuoso Ueli Kipfer who created it in November 2004 with the Schweizer Armee Spiel conducted by Jan Cober. The composer was inspired more by its mood than the analysis of works by Mahler and Rachmaninov. This concerto, which is quite demanding for the soloist and a challenge for the orchestra, is probably one of the most innovative works by Bert Appermont to date. Paseo is a Spanish word for a leisurely walk or stroll. The soloist takes the musical line for a walk with no great sense of hurry. There is one moment where the pleasantness of the stroll is threatened but it quickly passes and the good mood is resumed. Technically this needs a good sense of cantabile and control over the range from low D to D two octaves higher.In order to allow the oboe soloist to sing through without fighting the accompaniment, the saxophones, trumpets and percussion have been omitted.Duration: 4.15
