One of the most familiar and popular marches ever written is Franz Schubert's . Schubert (1797--1828) was one of the most prolific composers of all time, having written symphonies, chamber music, piano works, and over 600 songs, yet he only lived to the age of 32. The march was originally written for piano four-hands, however, this arrangement for young band sounds as if it was first written for military band. Woodwinds, brass, and percussion all shine with fun and interesting parts that work well together. This arrangement is perfect for an opener or closer to any concert.

This fun light piece is a great showpiece for the cornet. It is named after the sight-seeing boats for tourists in Niagara Falls. Set as a polka, there is much opportunity for the soloist to display quick fingers and light triple tonguing. To create a clean new edition, dynamics and articulations were made more consistent in the parts. Other items were changed to reflect the bands of today including F Horn parts rather than E-flat and the percussion parts have been reorganized. This is the first time this work has been available with a full conductor score rather than a piano reduction.

Pirates! This multi sectioned rollicking adventure by David Marlatt opens with "The Voyage Ahead," moves to "Captain's Orders" before slowing down to the reflective "Sun Off the Bow." "A Gold Tooth Grin" and "Jig on Deck" speed things up again which sets up "Shiver Me Timbers" to take things home. Melody found throughout the ensemble, animated rhythmic figures and shifting time signatures make this fun to play and enjoyable for audiences. Argh!
