Absolute Crossover (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Schwarz, Otto M.
This composition is made up of three themes, which feature all the facets of the instrumentation of a concert band as well as that of a big band. The symphonic passages, reminiscent of film music, enable the full tone and colour of the concert band to be heard, whilst the big band sound is represented in the rock segments and slow swing sections. The musical journey travels along practically all styles, ending with an impressive tutti, in which the shuffle rhythm of the big band melts together with the grand, classic film music sound of the concert band.Duration: 7:45

A Shakespeare Suite (from Richard III) (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Walton, William - Noble, Paul
This music was composed in 1955 for the film Richard III and has been adapted for orchestral concert use by Muir Mathieson, and this Concert Band arrangement by Paul Noble. The orchestra version has been recorded on Columbia Records by the Philharmonia Orchestra conducted by the composer, under the title Shakespeare Film Music. Midnight Sleighride (Troika) (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Prokofiev, Sergei - Farr, Ray
The music from 'Lieutenant Kij?’ was Prokofiev's first attempt at composing film music. In 1933 he was commissioned by the Soviet Union to compose music for a film of the same name and he later adapted this music into an orchestral suite that has since become highly popular. 'Troika', which forms the 4th movement of this 5 movement suite, was composed to give the impression of a fast winter's journey on a troika which is a traditional sleigh pulled by three horses. With the inclusion of sleigh-bells in the orchestration it has been often associated with the Christmas period and still is to this day.
