This piece features music from the 1978 film Grease, the songs Greased Lightening, Rock 'n' Roll is Here to Stay, Hopelessly Devoted to You and We Go Together, have been tastefully arranged in a beautiful medley. The original arrangement for fanfare orchestra by Emile Stoffels, has, due to popular demand, been expertly reworked for harmony orchestra by Henk Ummels. It's almost impossible to sit still, listening to this timeless music.

Marcia - Dag Ivar Wiren
Dag Wirn (1905 1986) studied organ and composition at the College of Music in Stockholm 1926 1931, and lived in Paris 1931 1934, where he continued his studies in composition and instrumentation. His list of works comprises mainly instrumentalmusic, such as five symphonies, five string quartets, several overtures and quite a lot of music for film and theatre.Serenade for String Orchestra, Op. 11, was premiered by Stockholm Chamber Orchestra under Tobias Wilhemi, in October 1937,and was an immediate success. The Serenade has four movements, and the finishing Marcia has gained great popularity, especially after it was theme tune for the television series Monitor, which wasaired 1958 1965.

Canadian Brass Concert Band Works - Grade 4 The music world lost one of its distinctive voices with the passing of composer Michael Kamen. Known primarily for his extraordinary film scores, Michael was also a tremendous advocate for school music programs. One of his final compositions, this work (originally titled Quintet) commissioned by the Canadian Brass was retitled Tribute after his death. It has been beautifully scored for band by John Moss. There's always a sense of adventure about America that makes it a really exciting topic to write about. The 3 States that sprang to mind in bringing a piece of music together were: California, Hawaii and Texas.We start out our American journey on the West Coast....California has provided much in the way of film and music for over 100 years. Combining this sense of free expression with the 'Surfing' culture, this initial section of the piece has an easy-going, fun feel in a pop idiom. Maybe wearing some shades might be quite a good look for this section!We move even further West now to the island of Hawaii where the free and easy goes onto a new level! The use of chromatics is a feature of Hawaiian melodies and has a feel a 'sliding' between notes that somehow sums up this feel of living on a tropical island! Have some fun with this section and have a Hawaiian garland to wear!Back into the USA mainland, and the fabulous state of Texas! Here we have the concept of the old fashioned rodeo and the 'Wild West'. Even today, the culture of horses, cowboys and tales of adventure are celebrated in places such as Fort Worth. The music captures some of these themes and has a fun and enjoyment...some get your Cowboy hats at the ready and enjoy the finale!
