This Latin mass for choir and wind band was composed in honour of Saint Cecilia's feast day, Saint Cecilia being the patroness of musicians. For this reason, many ensembles have annual concerts dedicated to Saint Cecila, which was the inspiration forthis piece. It is a festive, optimistic, but also comforting work, which in style perfectly suits the character of Saint Cecilia's Feast Day. After Missa Brevis, Missa Katharina and The Gospel Mass, Missa Santa Cecilia isthe fourth published mass by the Dutch composer Jacob de Haan.Choral parts available separately.

The work combines elements of traditional march style with the bravura of epic film scores,resulting in a piece that is both festive and celebratory in nature. The opening is a rousing 6/8 march featuring various sections of the band and exciting cross rhythms, and then contrasted with a beautifully flowing lyricstatement. Commissioned to celebrate the sesquicentennial of the state of West Virginia, Forever Free incorporates indigenous elements of the state's musical heritage, capturing a robust and celebratory spirit. Cast in a single movement inthree sections, the title is inspired by the state motto, Montani semper liberi (Mountaineeers forever free). The work is unified at the outset and closing by a ceremonial fanfare that is based on thematic figures from the statesong West Virginia Hills. A contrasting middle section features a lyric variant accompanied by a militaristic snare drum and timpani cadence, before all thematic elements are combined for the buoyant and festive conclusion. Viva Excelsior - Wim Laseroms
Wim Laseroms composed Viva Excelsior on the occasion of the hundredth anniversary of music society Excelsior in Losser (the Netherlands).After a powerful tutti entry, the percussion section bridges the period up to the first reprise. This festive march is then followed by a playful melodic theme in which the semi-quavers prevail, accompanied by a beautiful legato countermelody in the horns and euphoniums. During the second reprise a marcato bass solo and a technically sparkling and dynamic contrasting phase alternate. The trio features a new theme - starting from the chalumeau register and leading to an exuberant repeat in the brass with ornamentations by the high woodplayers.

Philip Sparke selected two well-known marches from the region around Southern Belgium and Luxembourg as the basis for his March Celebration: after we hear an original march theme and second theme in the bass, extracts from the Hmmelsmarsh (Hammelmarsch) and the spirited Marsch der Ardennen-Jger, which has become a kind of unofficial national anthem in these parts.
