£140.80Concertino for Tuba - Carlos Marques
At last here we have an interesting and quite playable solo concert for the tuba, a too often undervalued wind instrument. This concerto was written for and dedicated to the Portuguese tuba player Adlio Carneiro. Composer Carlos Marques who wrote already some successful pieces for Molenaar Edition such as 'Cassiopeia' and 'Transit of Venus' warrants an accessible and excellent wind band orchestration.

£128.90Mumadona Dias - Carlos Marques
After the successful compositions 'Cassiopeia' and 'The Transit of Venus', Carlos Marques has written another fine composition 'Mumadona Dias'. This piece boasts some theatrical characteristics: a solo trumpeter comes to the fore while playing and then brings a splendid solemn melody. Then comes a bagpiper playing an Irish tune. This is a most impressive and surprising composition!

£76.80Vale De Cambra - Carlos Marques
The march 'Vale de Cambra' was commissioned on the occasion of the centenary celebration of the band of Vale de Cambra (Portugal). Conducted by the composer, was premiered in October 2011, in Vale de Cambra, with about hundred musicians. It begins with a fanfare, rhythmical, thence to the first section, which traditionally develops. With a grand final, as is fitting for a celebration as important as a centenarian, the march creates either in the audience and in the musicians, and during all its duration, an effect of power and excitement to which no one stays indifferent.

£124.20Tantum Ergo - Carlos Marques
Tantum Ergo was commissioned in 2012 by the Muscia Viva Summer Wind Band, in Triuggio, Italy. The 13th century Gregorian text, Pange Lingua from Thomas Aquinas was taken as the start point to describe the extremes of human nature arising from religion, peace, violence, war, reflection, symbolically shown as a disorderly parade. Finally the original theme returns in a grandiose form, as a model of human reason and the as yet unwritten future.

£117.30Artis Calambria - Carlos Marques
Artis Calambria was commissioned and premiered in August 2011 by the Band of Vale de Cambra (Portugal), conducted by Gil Magalhes, on the occasion of its centennial. The work took as its starting point the poem of the poet Ferreira de Castro, a native of Vale de Cambra, about the city. The whole structure of the work was designed from the poem. Vale de Cambra is also known for its metal industry. The choice of some of the percussion instruments used in the work also had this aspect into account. 'On moonlight nights, when the great gold bubble appears on the hill of the mountains, the valley is filled with magic, a charm that hangs from the distant heights the waters of the river whispering Caima. The morning is a miracle, every day there is a miracle of light upon the earth when the sun rises in Vale de Cambra'.

Severi Spirit is a short pasodoble, light and unpretentious, with some subtle metric changes, pretending to be, within the genre, some freshness in style.
