The first movement depicts the arrival of the Romans and the founding of Nijmegen. The second movement portrays the rustic and idyllic countryside surrounding the city. A musical celebration from these areas to the city of Nijmegen comes to life in the third movement. In this festive march one can easily distinguish the traditional Dutch anniversarysong 'Lang zal ze leven'.

Driving rhythms depict the twists and turns of a space battle with wild percussive accents providing flashing laser blasts. The piece then closes with the festive sounds of celebration as victory is proclaimed.
