£154.99Algona Overture - Jan Van der Roost
This piece is dedicated to all the citizens who live, have lived, and will live in the US town of Algona, who commissioned the work to celebrate it's 150th anniversary. With dark-tinted tones (low drums, heavy brass), this overture begins with a primitive sacred feel, it seems as if centuries-old Indian singing is heard once more. Gradually the sound becomes clearer and brighter as the same theme travels throughout the band in various guises and variants. Imposing tutti passages then give the band the chance to lavishly shine. This bright and catchy overture radiates spontaneous energy and as it features every section of the band all the players as well as the listenersare continually surprised and captivated.

This piece was composed in the summer of 2000, on commission of the Whightull Wind Ensemble. Seaside Road is a march in two-four time. The work begins with a tempestuous sound, followed by a light passage. Featuring, amongst others, your Bass Clarinet and Euphonium soloists in the trio section, the work builds towards an agile tutti before concluding with a powerful closing section. A must for all your summer season concerts.

This piece was composed in 2009 for a commission by Shinjuku Bunka Center to commemorate its thirty years since its opening.It is an impressive work with a brilliant, bright fanfare, and the stately sound of the church organ reverberating through the concert hall. The first performance was given by Hiroko Takahashi, a house organist of the center, with Shinjuku City Wind Orchestra conducted by Shigeto Ishizu. Original works for church organ and wind orchestra are surprisingly scarce. This is a fresh opening piece, to be followed by an organ solo which might lead to a march.

Deep Blue Valley - Itaru Sakai
Composed in 2008 for the Ryukoku University Symphonic Band as a free-choice piece in the All Japan Band Competition of that year.[Additional Note for Instruments]In measure 35, the instruction "tumble over an aluminum mute" means to "roll an aluminum mute." However, there is no need to literally roll the mute, as long as the sound resembles that of an empty can being blown by the wind.
