£135.50Galactic Suite - Vincent Robert
A long time ago... in a small village near the Dutch city of Delft two friends had a rather hazardous idea: they wanted to write a sequel to the legendary 'Star Wars' cycle. The idea was realized and landed on the desk of the (film) director. However, the latter had already developed his own ideas and thanked them for the trouble.Today, more than twenty years later, the former musical sketches have been assembled in an accessible suite that will sound familiar to many listeners. It is an attempt still to realize part of the original idea and we do hope you will enjoy it.

£135.50Dis-TENSIONS-diS - Carlos Pellicer
The title 'Dis-TENSIONS-diS' is a game (or pun) with the words tension and distension (relaxation). The work stems from a 'Leitmotiv' presented at the beginning of the work by the warm sound of the bassoon. So from this melody draws all small parts for maximum re-use like elements of cohesion in different parts of the work. Hence the inevitable game of 'tension and relaxation' that occurs from such re-use of the same subject, but with a multitude of possible variations. Dis-TENSIONS-diS received a Mencion de Honor at the Italian Concorso Internazionale di Composizione originale per banda 2009.

£82.80March, Romance and Final - L.C. Neves Serra
This work as the title indicates, is composed of three different sections. After an introduction of great energy appears a quite melodious March that has within it an euphonium solo, itself also very melodic and exhilarating. Following a brief transition arises Romance, lyrical and exciting, finalized by a horn and euphonium solo in dialogue. Suddenly, without warning, arises the apotheosis of the Finale placing clear highlight on the metals. A work of simple structure with a magnificent sound result.

£62.95Bahumba - Peter Sciaino
"Bahumba" is a nonsense word but a no-nonsense selection for concert band. The word stems from a sound composer Peter Sciaino heard coming from an idling car. The engine, clearly having issues, had an "uneven" gate or pulse. He mindlessly heard the word "Bahumba" within the sounds emerging from the struggling motor. Just like an engine, an ensemble can attain a smooth groove even if "uneven" in terms of pulse. While the percussionists are often asked to provide this groove under the melodic lines, they ultimately break out with a feature that essentially places a percussion ensemble within the context of a concert band piece. £159.99Traversada - Oliver Waespi
The crossing of a mountain pass is called traversada in Romansh. Such a crossing bears uncertainties and dangers, but also hope and new opportunities. Whoever sets out for a traversada is leaving behind what's familiar in the quest for new places and people. The piece Traversada, based on a Romansh song about farewell and uncertain reunion, musically depics such a journey. At the offset, off-stage soloists introduce fragments of the melody after which a dramatic narrative unfolds. An intense musical shift leads to a calm section, featuring the original melody in pulsating, muted sound colours. Towards the end, the whole structure is gradually rebuilt andleads to an exuberant ending, where the vibrant melodic motifs reemerge.
