Highland Fling (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Jager, Robert

This very playable and appealing overture by Robert Jager is sure to be enjoyable by younger players. Bold and dignified characterize the opening segment which is followed by an energetic faster theme reminiscent of a Scottish Highland dance. A tender hymn-like melody is then developed before returning to the faster theme and powerful closing coda. Very well scored to sound full.

Highland Games Wind Band Set (Score & Parts)

Scotland is famed for its rich landscapes and proud heritage. It is also the country that is known for 'housing' the Loch Ness Monster. In celebration of their heritage the Scots annually hold their Highland Games treating audiences to the traditional 'sports' competed by their clan descendents. The Dutch composer Henk Hogestein used the Scottish Highland Games as a source of inspiration for this rugged three-movement work. Marc Cunningham was deeply influenced by the temple dances of this region. The theme behind these dances, which were originally religious performances and for which the dancers dress in colourful garb, is the tension between good and evil. Himmelstuperne (Skydivers) (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Strand, Oyvind

This march was composed in the early Spring of 1990 after being inspired by the local skydivers practicing their hobby at Geiteryggen Airfield in Skien, Norway. Particularly bold and spectacular I found those diving in free fall for about half a minute before unfolding their parachutes just before, so it seemed, hitting the ground.In my view they are the real Skydivers, but the march is a homage to all who practice this thrilling activity and to their courage and skills.- Oyvind StrandDuration: 3.30
