Earlybird is composer Stephen Gibsons early morning experience, starting with a soft slumber, then a yawn, followed by the big stretch (the trumpets) and then the increasing speed of the daily routine - the clarinet ostinato. Although the piece introduces some quite complex rhythms, these are invariably easy to hear and play, if not always easy to read at first sight - so persevere!
