CURTAIN CALL (Concert Band) - Woolfenden, Guy
Includes:Solemn MarchValse TristeFinaleThe thematic material for the first movement, Solemn March, started life as a coronation procession in Trevor Nunn's legendary production of The Revenger's Tragedy, a notorious Jacobean blood and guts play by Cyril Tourneur. Trevor Nunn was also the director of a much loved production of All's Well That Ends Well, starring Dame Peggy Ashcroft and Harriet Walter, from which the Valse Triste comes, featuring a haunting melody tailor-made for the oboe. The last movement, Finale, is a reworking of the curtain call music for Bill Alexander's amazing production of Richard III starring Antony Sher, who memorably played the role on crutches.

Cut to the Chase (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Stalter, Todd
In popular jargon, the phrase "cut to the chase" means to get to the really interesting or important point, and leave out all that is unnecessary. It originated from early cinematic lore when silent films were full of romantic story lines that inevitably led to much more exciting and memorable chase sequences. In this work, the melodic fragments are tossed around the band to give the impression that everyone is being chased or chasing something. To pay homage to the phrase's past, the frantic atmosphere stops for an obligatory inclusion of a slow, romantic chord progression with a soaring melody, and then the chase resumes, building to a rousing conclusion.Duration: 2:30

Cyclist in Moscow (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - De Haan, Jan
Cyclist in Moscow was written to introduce beginner players to ensemble playing as early as possible. Thanks to the low grade of difficulty of this piece this it is possible to play in a 'real band' after only a few lessons. Because of the four-part instrumentation, Cyclist in Moscow is suitable for smaller strengths, taking into account that it is important to divide parts evenly among the players. Also includes an ad-lib keyboard/piano part to support the ensemble.Duration: 1:15
