Depicting the beautiful landscapes of the San Andreas terrain in Palm Springs, CA, this programmatic work from Rossano Galante begins with a sparkling introduction mirroring the sun exploding out of the mountainous vistas. The soaring and robust main theme is first stated in the horns and then passed on to the trumpets. A calmer lyric section features a soloistic dialogue in the woodwinds. The epicentre of this swing revival lay in the American state of California, Los Angeles and San Francisco in particular.
