A modern but patriotic setting with optional narration makes FREEDOM'S PROMISE a moving and versatile Grade 3 piece you will want to add to your band library. It's an ideal patriotic feature for school or community performance. A musical tribute to The Bill of Rights of the United States Constitution, the optional narration can be read by one, or divided between a number of students. Many Junior High students in the U.S. spend a large portion of a year in Civics, History or Social Studies classes learning about their government and it's founding documents. Freedom's Song - James Curnow

It has been difficult to find mature sounding arrangements of patriotic music for the Grade 1 band. The stately tempo and carefully controlled ranges and rhythms in this one makes James Curnow's skillful interpretation of TheBattle Hymn of the Republic accessible to young bands while sounding sophisticated enough for groups that normally play more difficult music. Freedom's Song belongs in every music library. (Grade 1)

Freedom's Voice - Shaffer

Freedom's Voice was commissioned to commemorate "The Voice of America," which began broadcasting in 1942 to combat Nazi propaganda with truthful news and information. VOA has served the world with a consistent message of truth, hope and inspiration. Opening with a mysterious and haunting melody representing the axis powers during the 2nd world war, the piece quietly builds into a voice of hope with the introduction of fanfare figures woven into a stoic rhythmic melody. The piece builds forcefully utilizing just these 2 simple musical elements into a broad finale representing the glory of freedom and free speech. Inspiring for both performers and audiences. Exceptional!

After the enjoyable 'Prelude For You' , composer Ralf Uhl follows up with the very worthy 'Freetime'. The inspiration for this work was the refreshing feeling at the beginning of a holiday. The trumpets will enjoy playing their hearts out in this 'pop-style' piece, written as a fun rhythmic caprice for symphonic wind band.
