Europa Mars - Robert Allmend

With this traditional marching tune the Dutch composer Robert Allmend (Amsterdam, 1939) wants to pay a tribute to Europe. The march has got a traditional structure and is most suitable as parade march. The pleasant melody of the trio in particular, with a striking piccolo flute part the second time, will appeal both to the musicians and the public.

Since the Treaty of Lisbon came into force at the end of 2009, a lot has happened within the European Union. There were (and are) sceptics as well as ardent supporters. European Folk Rhapsody - Andrew Balent

European Folk Rhapsody contains folk melodies from England (Early One Morning), France (Passing through Lorraine), Holland (When Duke Jan came sailing), Switzerland (Vreneli) and Austria (Sleep Little Soul). These settings use many styles and tone colors and feature short solos from several sections of the band. The stirring finale has the English tune 'Cornish May Song' superimposed over the melody from 'America' or 'God Save the Queen'.

European Journey

Lszl Zemplni, the author or reviser of a large number of pedagogical volumes published by EMB, has this time arranged European folk songs for young band. The following songs feature in the volume: "La' doch meine Jugend" (German), "My native land" (Irish), "Ah mon beau chteau" (French), "Kom, skal i klippe" (Norwegian), "Moj llokumja me sheqer" (Albanian), "Ma come balli bella bimba" (Italian) and "Az olhok, az olhok" (Hungarian). The pieces can be performed as a coherent series or separately, and conductors can select from them to form 2-, 3- or 4-movement groups.
