In the American Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson wrote, "If there's something wrong, those who have the ability to take action have the responsibility to take action..." Chandler Wilson's "Conversations" is based on the idea of conversations that are needed for society to progressively move forward, most profoundly in the areas of racial issues and equality. The music eloquently expresses the importance of considering and respecting the points of view of other's. A musical work which is truly thought-provoking.

Converse Fantasy

An exceptional new composition based upon the hymn "Converse" (commonly known as "What a Friend We Have in Jesus"), William Harbinson has crafted a concert overture using the hymn's theme as a starting point. Beginning with brilliant brass fanfares and woodwind flourishes, the middle section is made up of an inversion of the hymn tune, and ends with a dramatic climax. This work is simply beautiful and heartfelt, showcasing your group's musical expression like no other.

Conway's Cantata - Russell Alexander

A previously unpublished work by Russell Alexander (1877-1915), probably composed in the early 1900's. Dedicated to Patrick Conway, a leading conductor and bandmaster from the early 20th century. This edition, created from the coposer's original manuscripts, includes full score and parts for contemporary concert band instrumentation.

Conzensus - Jan Van der Roost

This stately concert opener was originally written by Jan Van der Roost for a special event in which six respected wind orchestras (two Belgian and four Dutch) of different composition (two symphonic bands, two fanfare bands and two brass bands) were featured during six concerts. Each evening brought forth a performance by a symphonic band, a fanfare, and brass band, so that the audience could experience all three types of ensembles. This was indeed an original concept.The name, ConZEnSus, comes from a combination of the words, 'Concert Cyclus' (concert series) and 'zes' (Dutch for 'six'). This leads to a new word, which refers to 'consensus'. The general tenor of the cycle isthus immediately indicated. The richness of color of the various ensembles is revealed through an open and friendly atmosphere. During all six concerts (over a span of three years), ConZEnSus functioned as a permanent opening number for each orchestra. Thus the same musical story was portrayed in three different packages.
