Christmas Overture - Samuel Coleridge-Taylor

Samuel Coleridge-Taylor's Christmas Overture appeared posthumously in 1925. Originally orchestrated by Sydney Baynes, it features God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen and Hark the Herald Angels Sing. It is thought by some to have been put together from incidental music he wrote for a children's play called The Forest of Wild Thyme. This band arrangement, based on Baynes' orchestra score, omits the largely developmental middle section of the original, shortening the performance time by two minutes, while retaining all of the traditional carol material.

Christmas Pipes - Brendan Graham

Most notably performed by Celtic Woman, this lilting Celtic style song features a distinctive melody and a striking quote of the traditional carol O Holy Night. Arranged here for second year players this is sure to be a highlightof any holiday concert.

Christmas Prelude - John Blanken

Christmas Prelude is a festive composition on the Christmas carol O Come, All Ye Faithful. A quiet, march-like introduction, representing the procession to worship, is followed by three verses of the well-known carol: once from a quartet, then shared between the various instrumental groups. A festively embellished section leads to an interlude symbolising the start of Christmas celebrations, before a spectacular conclusion.

Christmas Prism - Robert W. Smith

All sections of the band are featured in this arrangement for the holiday season. Following a full band introduction, individual choirs of the band present short holiday tunes. Each feature flows directly into the next giving the audience a "prism" musical experience. The full band returns to finish the performance in glorious celebration. Most of this arrangement can be rehearsed in sectionals making preparation time short and very educationally effective!

Easy to rehearse and perform, this holiday processional adds a regal air to seasonal programming. O Come, All Ye Faithful is combined with a noble original melody and a powerful ending.
