Dream, Imagine, Live - Larry Clark

The inspiration for this piece comes from one of Henry David Thoreau's most famous quotes - Go confidently in the direction of your dreams! Live the life you've imagined. It was Thoreau's vision that we contemplate a simpler life and be deep thinkers about what we want our lives to be. The piece is divided into three distinct sections based on the same three-note motive. The first section is intense and bold, the second is introspective and lyrical and the third is dance-like, almost reminiscent of a Celtic folk song, in lilting in 6/8. This perfect contest or festival selection will highlight your band's strengths.

Dreamcatcher - Otto M. Schwarz

Once upon a time in North America, there lived a mother and her small daughter who were part of a community of Ojibwa people. The girl suffered from severe nightmares. The mother sought help from 'Spider Woman' also known as 'Asibikaashi', who protected people by weaving a magical web. This 'dreamcatcher', decorated with sacred feathers, only let good dreams through, and the bad dreams were burnt by the morning sunbeams. During this fascinating programme work, one can follow the story meticulously, making it a true phantasmal concert experience!

The inspiration for this unique composition came from the charming Iroquois folk melody, Ho Ho Watanay and the ancient Ojibwe legend of the dreamcatcher. It was believed that the magical webs of the dreamcatcher would filter out all bad dreams and only allow good thoughts to enter the mind. Using evocative percussion effects, colorful orchestration and harmonies, Dreamcatcher sounds much more impressive and advanced than its grade level would suggest.
