Yakolo - Gerald Oswald

Yakolo is originally a dance song from Africa. It reflects the people of Africa's zest for life, following the maxim 'Come and join us!'. In this work, the 'call and response' principle is featured as a trademark element of traditional African music. The rhythmic melodies invite listeners to sing and dance along and thus give shape to the African art of celebrating together. The repeating themes will be sure to put a smile on everyone's face!

Yamanobe no Michi - Itaru Sakai

"Yamanobe no Michi" (road at the foot of a mountain) is located east of the Yamato basin. It is the oldest road in Japan and is about 35km (21.5 miles) long. The oldest market and positions used for trading merchandise over the centuries are found along this road. While composing this work the composer visualised the activity along "Yamanobe no Michi" imagining the solemn procession of the aristocracy, as well as the chaos that traffic often presents. He also kept in mind the tumultuous history that this road has seen and still represents today.

Yankee Doodle - George Purdy

A newly revised edition of the classic variations on "Yankee Doodle" by George Purdy, based on the original parts published in 1883. This updated version includes a full score, in addition to a few adaptations/transpositions to accommodate modern band instruments. Also, a solo piccolo part has been provided for D-flat piccolo (D major) as in the original, or C piccolo (E-flat major). Please note, the concert key of this edition is E-flat/A-flat major.
