At the Zoo - Hilde Høyvik Dahl

"At the Zoo" is a light and playful piece for the beginning musicians.Different animals and their characteristics are the theme of each movement, and the melody alternates between the different sections of the band to emphasize this. Trombones play glissandos and the percussionists are featured on percussion instruments, making the piece a fun to perform at any concert!

At Water's Edge - Gary P. Gilroy

You wont find many works at this grade level that successfully communicate the feelings of calm and grandeur with such striking effect. The combination of musical percussion, nontraditional effects and sweeping waves of sound create an impressionistic, mature work; and while written to be accessible by young players, it would be very effective for bands at all levels. At Widdicombe Fair - Stephen Bulla

This colorful folk song describes the tale of a man's "graymare" that is loaned to a friend for a trip to WiddicombeFair. After being loaned continually to other friends, thehorse eventually returns to its original owner as a ghostappearing "ghastly white" with a "rattling of bones."It's good for phrasing practice in 3/4 and the cheerful littletune is a "gem" of the genre.
