"Axolotl Dance" honors the Mexican heritage of these amazing creatures with basic Latin percussion, and highlights their charm with a lighter melody. Not just a pretty face, these creatures also have mysterious powers of regeneration like no other, making them of interest to scientists. Have fun learning about these delightful creatures while preparing this fun piece for performance!

Ayers Rock - Henk Hogestein

The famous monolith Ayers Rock (also called Uluru) is the only true attraction in the Northern Territory of Australia. This colossal red rock lies in the middle of a desert plain. At dusk, a beautiful spectacle develops as the setting sun envelops the rock in rose-red hues. There are tourists who climb the rock, while this is a taboo according to the indigenous religion of the Aboriginals. Besides, the climb is very strenuous. A walk around the rock is also an unforgettable experience.During a journey through Australia, Henk Hogestein was inspired by this rock; he composed this robust rock number to cherish the memory of it.

Aztec - Erik Morales

The mystery and wonder of the ancient Aztec civilization serves as the basis of this innovative and colorful new work. A large battery of percussion compliments the energetic writing in all instruments. After a mysterious introduction, a theme is presented in a call-and-response fashion that is passed throughout the ensemble.
