Written as a conversation between the winds and percussion, as the title suggests, this composition utilizes many voices within the metallic, pitched and drummed instruments of the percussion section. Flowing melodies in the winds are answered by intense percussion punctuation. Simple but very effective, this composition will be a hit in any concert setting.

Thunderbird - Robert Buckley

The Thunderbird is the spirit of thunder and lightning, believed by Native Americans to take the shape of a great bird. It is also the symbol of the North Vancouver Youth Band who commissioned this march to commemorate their fi ftieth anniversary. It is a march rich in rhythms and melodies, and everyone in the band has something exciting to play. A great way to open your concert.

Thunderbird Overture - Stephen Bulla

The descriptive piece draws its inspiration from the American west, the music first depicts a scene of wide open spaces and the quiet landscape of the painted desert. The second section is more animated in character. You will hear references to the cowboy era, complete with gunshots and the sound of the rodeo.

Thunderbolt (A P-47 Tribute) - Johnnie Vinson

The P-47 Thunderbolt was one of the workhouse airplanes of World War II, becoming the most produced, and also largest single piston engine fighter plane in history. This dramatic overture for band musically tells the story of thislegendary plane. (The composer's father piloted a P-47 during the war in 1944). The opening heroic strain is contrasted with a slow, reflective middle section before returning to the fast theme and exciting conclusion. Aterrific-sounding and expertly scored overture, this will make a perfect choice for contest or festival. Dur: 4:40

Thunderbound is the name of one of the trails and lifts at Mammoth Ski Resort in California. Composer Sean O'Loughlin crafts an exciting new work for concert band inspired by this aptly named trail. Young musicians will love playing Thunderbound.

Thundercrest - Quincy C. Hilliard

Opening with a slow and lyrical section, the piece soon moves into a fast, exciting tempo. Lower voices have plenty of chances to be heard playing the melody while upper voices provide harmonic and rhythmic background. Strong percussion and a lot of rhythmic unison hits really help add to the drama and excitement of this new work.
