March of the Palace Guards - Jerry Williams

A stirring, yet very easy march with a slightly British feel. Well constructed and appealing, it will be play able by most bands toward the end of their first year. This is a number you will continue to use for years to come.

March of the Romans - Michael Sweeney

Explorer Level (correlates with Book 1, p. 11) It's hard to believe that this impressive piece for beginners uses nothing faster than quarter notes (a few 8th notes in percussion)! Michael cleverly uses the sound of stomping feet and bold harmonies creating an effect that sounds harder than it really is.

March of the Roughnecks - Ed Huckeby

This concert march heralds back to the early days of the oil boom in the early 1900s. Commissioned by the Glenpool High School Band, commemorating one of the early oil field discoveries (the "Glenn Pool") in Oklahoma, this march recollects the undeniable spirit of the early petroleum pioneers and oil field laborers (called "roughnecks"). The roughnecks worked long, hard hours to drill for the "black crude" which helped to define the Tulsa area as the "oil capitol of the world" for many decades. The spirited and energetic style of the march makes it a "must play" for festival competition or concert performance.

March Of The Royals - Bill Calhoun

March of the Royals is a concert march for developing concert bands. Although familiar, with all the ingredients found in a typical march, this piece is written in a more regal and elegant style that is characteristic of English style marches. The piece is written for younger musicians but directors will find that it is carefully scored to help ensembles sound older than their years.
