Flowing Pens From Concord - Roger Cichy

A commission from The Concord Band in commemoration of their fiftieth season resulted in this four-movement work that explores the literary masterworks inspired by the Concord area. Mr. Cichy treats Nathaniel Hawthorne, Louisa May Alcott, Henry David Thoreau, and Ralph Waldo Emerson with the dignity and respect their works demand.

Flowing Stream

This poignant melody is derived from a Chinese folk tune (hill song) of the same name from the Yunnan Province. This arrangement is dedicated to Joseph Cheung, an outstanding Chinese conductor and teacher. Correlates to Book 2, level 2.

Flying Fortress - Robert W. Smith

This stunning fanfare by veteran composer Robert W. Smith was inspired by the historic and legendary Boeing B-17 aircraft used by the United States Army Air Corps in World War II. Beginning with a powerful timpani statement, the brass section responds with a bold introductory theme. Strong melodic lines interacting with woodwind flourishes make this piece sound more mature and difficult than the grade level indicates. Folgore's Months - David Liptak

Commissioned by a consortium of outstanding collegiate wind ensembles, features a soprano voice soloist in a contemporary setting of four movements musically depicting "February," "August," "May," and " December." David Liptak, well known for his creative compositional style (his "The Sacred Harp" was one of the first wind works included in The Donald Hunsberger Wind Library), has written a four-movement composition for Soprano and Chamber Wind Ensemble based upon the writings of a 14th century poet. is a vital addition to the growing serious repertoire for vocal soloist and winds. This particular item includes the complete score and Wind Ensemble parts.
