Knights Of Chivalry - Randy Navarre

One can easily imagine in the days of Castes and Kings, how this composition may spark the feeling of what it may have been like for Knights of the Kingdoms to not only protect the Lords of the Castle, but also be chivalrous to the Ladies of the Court. Dancing at the feasts and festivals, escorting the royalty to various events. Knights had much more to do than fight. They were allowed to have fun. Sometimes. Like all of our Grade compositions, its main purpose besides giving good and interesting music for young musicians to play, is that it is an opportunity for the band director to teach some aspect of music. This is a great composition for introducing eighth notes and following dynamics. No clarinet crosses the break, and the 1st trumpet's highest note is A (in the staff). Everyone plays rhythmically together. Only the drum part may vary. All chords of the diatonic scale are used to make the harmony more interesting with no accidentals.

Return to Camelot (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Watson, Scott

Camelot refers to an idyllic time and place, lost to lore and legend, but which continues on in the hearts, minds, and stories of so many. When our imagination and sense of adventure allow it, we return to Camelot, with its gallant knights of the Round Table, acts of chivalry, and even moments of magic! This exciting piece by Scott Watson, with its driving tempo, insistent rhythms, modal harmonies, and glimpses of beauty, musically transports the listener back to King Arthur's Camelot. Froissart (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Elgar, Edward - Noble, Paul

Froissart, Op. 19, is a concert overture by Edward Elgar, inspired by the 14th-century Chronicles of Jean Froissart. Elgar was first attracted to the Chronicles after finding mention of them in Walter Scott's Old Mortality. Jean Froissart (c. 1337 - c.1405), often referred to in English as John Froissart, was a medieval French chronicle writer. For centuries, Froissart's Chronicles have been recognized as the chief expression of the chivalric revival of the 14th century Kingdom of England and France. The motto written by Elgar on the manuscript score is a quotation from an 1817 poem by Keats: 'When Chivalry lifted up her lance on high.' Froissart is not a programmatic work: unlike the later Falstaff or even Cockaigne it does not tell a detailed story; it evokes a mood and manner in broad terms. The drama of the dynamics enhances the haunting melodies that identify Elgar's compositions.

The Knights' Creed (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Buckley, Robert

The medieval knights had a code of chivalry that included courage, community and wisdom - in this composition each of these ideals is symbolised with its own melody. The percussion provides the framework as these melodies are stated individually, in pairs and ultimately all together in a triumphant conclusion. This work is an ideal high-energy concert opener or festival piece that showcases all sections of the band and allows them each to play the melody.Duration: 5:15
