During the recording sessions Spooky took a free day, and the band recorded this purely instrumental number "Spooky's Day Off" which then spent 14 weeks in the Top 40 in 1969. James Kennedy arranged this swinging version for wind band.

Drieluik is one of the pearls in the repertoire, which is specifically written for wind band. It is an interesting piece in a contemporary idiom that was written ahead of its time (1969). This is a revised and colourful orchestration, and hopefully returns Triptych to its former glory, and gives it the attention it deserves. It is an exciting composition for the musicians, with many chamber music type moments, various solo opportunities and full of energy.

JEF PENDERS (Hoensbroek 1928) is also a very popular Dutch wind band music composer who also does a great job as conductor, arranger and recording supervisor. In his novelty Glenn meets Wolfgang (1969) he arranged the tune of Mozart's 'Sonate Facile' into the Glenn Miller style. It proved to be a successful formula as this piece was followed by 'Glenn beats the Battle of Jericho', 'Glenn plays after the Ball' and, more recently, 'Glenn mucks about with the clarinet'. The American singer and actress Diana Ross was soloist with the popular female group 'The Supremes' from 1964 to 1969. With the song 'You keep me hanging on' the group was number one in the hitparade for twelve consecutive weeks. In 1970 Ross started a solo career both as singer and actress (Lady sings the Blues 1972). Many of her songs, such as Touch me in the Morning (1972), Love Hangover (1976) and Endless Love (1982) became extremely popular. The last decades of the 20th century saw man's first steps in space exploration. Since the first moon landing by Neil Armstrong in 1969, these adventures in outer space have captured the public's imagination and have given birth to scores of science fiction movies, books and TV series that have tackled the subject. Infinity and Beyond... takes as its inspiration the wonderful film scores of composers such as John Williams and Jerry Goldsmith, who have almost invented a style which could be called 'space music'.Opening with a rhythmic bass figure, Infinity and Beyond... begins with a robust introduction in 3/4, which leads to the main theme in 4/4, played by the full band. Ashort bridge passage, utilising the interval of a fourth, leads to a modal central section, featuring first the trumpets and then played by the whole band; this in turn leads back to a repeat of the introduction until the main theme returns to bring the piece to a close.
